I was very happy to see this news today:

On Friday, Michelle Obama will begin digging up a patch of White House lawn to plant a vegetable garden, the first since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden in World War II. There will be no beets (the president doesn’t like them) but arugula will make the cut.

I like that she is involving some neighborhood children in the effort as well. It warms my heart to see how children react to Barack and Michelle. They always squeal with delight and crowd around the Obamas to get a hug or a handshake, and the Obamas never disappoint. I love these people. So refreshing and genuine.
